What to do in Iceland - tips for adrenaline junkies

  • Horseback riding

The Icelandic horse is a unique breed of smallish horses that came to Iceland with the first settlers from Norway 1100 years ago. Horseback riding is one of the amazing things you can do in Iceland! There is a nature reserve just outside of Reykjavík - called Heidmörk - with amazing volcanic formations and red hills. Many companies take their horseback riding tours here so you can feel like you were on another planet! But you can also ride the horses at one of the idyllic black sand beaches, if you like :)
