Description
Sail out to the feeding grounds of Faxaflói Bay in our new RIB express boat, Dagmar. This 12-meter boat has a comfortable cruising speed of 32 knots, which allows us to get out to the whale watching area much faster. It also allows us to get up close and personal to the whales in a way that‘s safe and comfortable for both passengers and the whales.
During the summer months we will stop by the puffins island Akurey on our way out to search for whales. The puffins are in Iceland during the summer months for their breeding season, and are an adorable and fun addition to the tour! On the way back to land we sail along the coastline of Reykjavík – a perfect photo opportunity!
Dagmar was custom built for us in the UK, and designed with greater comfort and safety in mind. The boat is equipped with suspension seating (also known as shock seats), which are scientifically proven to provide a more cushioned ride than other types of stationary seats. This means your ride will be more comfortable, even in choppier seas.

Itinerary
Gear up with your overalls, gloves and goggles and listen to a short safety speech from your guide before boarding. You will set sail from the Old Harbour, near the city center of Reykjavík. We sail 10-15 nautical miles out to the feeding grounds of Faxaflói Bay, a natural wildlife area (with a stop to the puffin island on the way during the summer months). Enjoy beautiful views of Esja and the surrounding mountains, and of Reykjavík‘s coastline on the way back. This tour is at sea for a total of 2 hours.
