Horse riding and River rafting

Description

First you start at Syðra-Skörðugil and ride for two hours. Then you drive to Bakkaflöt and go river rafting in West glacial river. 

We ride towards the river Skarðsá and back. In this tour you will be amazed how this small, unique Icelandic horse can steal your heart. For riders with no riding skills as well as advanced riders. We provide riding equipments such as saddle, bridles, helmet and raincoats if needed.

Enjoy a trip through the magnificent West Glacial canyon. This trip is ideal for those who want to enjoy a relaxing trip and take in some breathtaking scenery. For family rafting the West is the best. The West Glacial River is classed 2-3. All of our trips start and end from our onsite boathouse. Our friendly and professional guides will provide you with all of the equipment needed for tackling our famous glacial rivers.

We will then take a 20 minute drive towards the West Glacial river. At the rafting put in your trip leader will give a full safety brief. You will then be divided into crews and assigned a boat and most of all your guide. Once on the river we will enter the canyon with its high walls and amazing geology.

Along the way we may stop for a unique hot chocolate and for a spot of cliff jumping for the brave ones. The bus will be waiting at the takeout for the short drive back to the base where the hot pools await.
