A thrilling day out that combines the Golden circle with a trip into a lava cave
Journey with us as we take you out on a day tour that will combine the famous sights of the golden circle with a trip down into a lava cave!
Leiðarendi lava cave
Our adventure begins with the easiest step, Pickup! For this part all you need to do is sit back, relax and wait for us to get you either from your hotel or one of the many pick up points within the city centre.
Once we have everyone we will be setting out of the city and out into the Icelandic countryside where you will be experiencing spots such as Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss and of course the 900 meter long lava tube Leiðarendi.
Þingvellir (also known as Thingvellir) national park is an area that not only boasts a stunning natural beauty but also a strong historical and cultural significance to the island. Within this area you have the site where the world's first parliament was formed, the area where America and Eurasia are drifting apart from each other and much more.
The Great Geysir is a geyser whose size and power earned it the privilege of being the first Geyser to be spoken of in print in Europe. As a result the English word “geyser” actually derives from Geysir. Unfortunately Geysir is no longer able to erupt of its own power but thankfully its sister hot spring Strokkur still goes off very regularly, allowing for many photo opportunities.
Gullfoss, also known as the Golden falls, is one of the largest and most magnificent waterfalls in Iceland. It got its name from the golden shimmer that can often be seen as the water cascades over its 32 meter drop. Gullfoss is also tangled in a rich history involving investors trying to build a power plant to harness the waters energy and one girl who made it her mission to preserve the nature.
a 900 meter long lava tube offering unique rock formations, such as stalactites and shelves. Although Leiðarendi cave has a rather easy access to the underworld of Iceland some light crawling may be required.
Pick-up operates on a 30 minute window so check your ticket for information on when you need to be at your pickup location. Please be ready at your pick up point with your voucher, either in digital or printed form.
Dress appropriately for the weather baring in mind that the surfaces at Geysir can sometimes be wet. It is also recommended you wear comfortable shoes. You may want to bring an extra layer for the lava cave as the temperatures can drop inside!
You will be traveling in a modified 4X4 that carries around 8 people but will still be spacious and comfortable. There is not a bathroom but there will be plenty of stops where facilities can be used.
This tour is 8 hours long, You spend at least 30 minutes at the major stops giving you plenty of time to enjoy the nature and snap some photos.
Lunch is not included, but there will be plenty of opportunity to buy food.
